Instead of topping a gift with just a bow try adding a simple wire shape to add a bit of whimsy.
The example here shows a simple wire owl with the caption… “Owl You Need is ART.”
Alternatives include a wire birthday cake, wire words like smile or surprise, or even a heart or flower.

A vintage pop top tab makes a perfect base for this heart shaped sculpture.
Add your favorite quote or saying on vintage paper (note the font was done using a vintage typewriter) that is stitched onto a bit of wool.
Note how the wire tail is weaved through the quote and then finishes in a swirl.

You can use a variety of vintage findings for bases to your wire sculptures (pop tops, lids, wheels, and bobbins are just a few ideas).
When creating this wire bird cage I took advantage of the holes in the bobbin to anchor the ends of the cage and added a simple curl to the ends to finish the look.
Add a short piece of wire to the top with some swirls to create visual balance.
As an alternative you could add a simple word to the top or tuck it inside the cage to add even more interest.
